چکیده

A monolithic 5 GHz image reject mixer using a 0.5-μm GaAs MESFET technology is designed and simulated. The Mixer exhibits a 13.56 dB down-conversion gain, a SSB (Single SideBand) noise figure of 11.90 dB, an input IP3 (third order intercept point) of –3.73 dBm and a P1dB (1-dB compression point) of –11.0 dBm. The critical issue in the image reject mixer is the phase accuracy and magnitude balance of the 90° phase shifting network. The proposed image reject mixer realizes a 90° phase shifter on chip. This phase shifting network does not need any phase adjusting to achieve the phase error specification of 3° over a frequency range from 800 MHz to 1GHz. The simulated overall image rejection ratio is better than 50 dB.

A 5 GHz CMOS Low Power Down-conversion Mixer for Wireless LAN Applications

This paper describes a 1.5-V 5 GHz I/Q down conversion mixer in a 0.18-μm CMOS process. The mixer achieves a conversion gain of 12.7 dB within 1-dB compression point (iCP1dB) of -15.83 dBm. It also achieves a double side band (DSB) NF of 13.5 dB. The mixer's IIP3 is -5.94 dBm. The mixer consumes only 5.72 mA of current from a 1.5-V power supply. Key-Words: Analog RF-CMOS, IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802...

Mixer Topology Selection for a Multi-Standard High Image-Reject Front-End

In this paper, a mixer topology selection for a multi-standard high image-reject front-end is presented. The receiver is intended to work for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephone (DECT) systems (at 1.9 GHz and 2.4 GHz) and for Bluetooth (at 2.4 GHz). It will be implemented in 0 18 μm CMOS technology. A double-quadrature low-IF architecture is employed because it can provide a high image rejectio...

Design approach for I-Q Modulators using Millimeter-Wave Monolithic Doubly Balanced V-Band Star Mixers

In this paper, a doubly balanced V-band star mixer has been designed following the design method developed for I-Q modulators applications. The mixer has been designed using a commercial GaAs pseudomorphic HEMT process library. The mixer exhibits RF bandwidth over 45-65 GHz with local oscillator isolation better than 30 dB, and achieved a typical conversion loss of 9 dB. The IF modulation bandw...

Adaptive Calibration Methods for an Image - Reject Mixer by Isaac Sever

The wireless communications market has grown substantially during the last decade. Recent advances in wireless technology have reduced the size and cost of mobile radios while improving performance. The increasing level of integration in wireless circuits has led to many of these improvements. However, increased integration is dependent on the development of novel transceiver architectures that...
